Amidst the debate over formation of law against ‘love jihad’ in the state of Assam and all over India, a fresh case of love jihad has emerged in Silchar, Assam.
By threatening the family members of the girl, a Muslim boy picked up a Hindu girl and kept her locked in his home for almost 5 months. The girl has now been rescued by the police, after 5 months, due to the efforts and pressure from Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
The alleged incident of kidnapping of the girl took place in the Meherpur area of the town. According to the sources, the girl belongs to a poor family that resides in the Silcoorie area. She was emotionally trapped and taken to the home of Charimul Laskar in Meherpur. Charimul executed the whole plan, taking advantage of the lockdown situation.
After bringing the minor girl to his home, Charimul began to threaten her family and allegedly warned that dire consequences would follow if they attempted to lodge an FIR with the police.
The family remained in complete state of fear and grief, as they were continuously threatened by Charimul and his brother over phone. The poor Hindu family was not able to take help from any corner because of the Muslim brothers and that too in a Hindu majority town like Silchar.
The paternal aunt of the girl informed Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad about the whole incident. The Bajrang Dal acted instantly and reported the whole thing to the police, along with the brother of the girl.
A police team lead by Officer in Incharge of Sadar Police Station, Ditumoni Goswami, raided the home of Charimul and rescued the Hindu girl. She was presented in court and the court handed her over to her parents. The accused Charimul and his brother have escaped. The police are now trying to get hold of the two accused, as soon as possible.
